Sydney Hosts Inspiring Australia India Youth Dialogue 2024, Fostering Future Leaders.

Global Exchange Highlighted as Australia India Youth Dialogue 2024 Concludes

The Australia India Youth Dialogue 2024, held in Sydney on August 22, brought together 30 young leaders, 15 from each country to develop collaboration and relationships. This event has been held in India and Australia in alternating years for more than a decade. The goal of the delegates, who represent a variety of industries including politics, sports, science,  and the arts, is to improve bilateral relations and discuss common concerns.

Being a primary sponsor and organizer of the last events, the University provided a platform for investigating innovation, leadership, and cross-cultural interaction. Professor Mark Scott, Vice-Chancellor and President, emphasized the significance of the occasion for strengthening ties between Australia and India. He stressed that the Australia-India Youth Dialogue is a platform for emerging leaders from both nations to share ideas and address shared difficulties. He expressed satisfaction with the University's status as a Distinguished Sponsor and projected favorable results from the program.

Dr. Diana Chester, a specialist in digital media and cultural heritage, and Dr. Andrew Sully, a lecturer and filmmaker, held a panel discussion on creativity at the AIYD conference. Dr. Chester emphasized the value of fostering relationships and listening to diverse views while highlighting how sound art may promote meaningful cross-cultural collaborations. Insights from Dr. Sully's work in Timor-Leste, where he has worked with groups of survivors to recount the tales of individuals impacted by political violence, were shared. He pointed out that audio-visual imagery has the power to affect public opinion and policy, which may result in political change, filmmakers may act as a medium for survivors to tell their story to the world, emphasizing the value of honoring their understanding of their people and culture.

Delegates toured the Sydney Conservatorium of Music after touring the Chau Chak Wing Museum. There were performances by Dr. Lu Liu, Associate Professor Vladimir Gorbach, and musicians from the Subramaniam Academy of Performing Arts. Associate Professor Gorbach emphasized how their joint performance at the AIYD conference showed the value of cultural discourse in bridging differences in background and enhancing understanding across cultures. He underlined the Conservatorium's function in promoting these relationships and the transformative power of music in uniting and strengthening communities.

The Conservatorium's closing ceremony performance, according to Dr. Lu Liu, was a celebration of the influence of intercultural and cross-cultural influences on our globe rather than merely a talent show. She underlined that by fusing many musical traditions, they not only produce something original and motivational but also encourage fair opportunities for every voice to be acknowledged and recognized.
