The Rhine-Ruhr 2025 FISU World University Games, scheduled to take place in Germany from July 16 to July 27, 2025, is expected to bring together around 8,500 student-athletes and officials from over 150 countries. This globally acclaimed multi-sport event will feature 18 disciplines, including taekwondo, athletics, swimming, and basketball, providing a platform for high-level competition. Alongside showcasing sporting excellence, the event aims to promote sustainability, inclusivity, and education, making it a fusion of athleticism and cultural exchange.
Organised by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), the World University Games remain one of the most significant global multi-sport events for university athletes. A moment of immense pride for Arunachal Pradesh and India, Khinsan Wangsu, a resident of Mington village in Longding district, has been selected for the Indian Taekwondo squad at this prestigious event. Her dedication and hard work have earned her this opportunity to compete on the international stage. As she readies herself for this challenge, her journey stands as a beacon of inspiration for aspiring athletes across the country.
A member of the Wancho tribe, Khinsan is pursuing a B.Sc. in Sports Science at Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak. Her outstanding performance at the national trials held in Amritsar in February secured her place in the Indian team. Renowned for her consistency and determination, she has clinched four gold medals, one silver, and two bronze at national-level competitions, including a double gold at the National Games in Goa and Uttarakhand.
Her selection has been widely celebrated, particularly in the Northeast, where the sports community has expressed immense pride in her achievement. Leading these tributes, Arunachal Taekwondo Association secretary general Likha Robin extended his best wishes for her success at the international level.
