College events are always a buzz and become more coveted when your favorite celebrity is visiting. However, the recent discussions about the incident at Rungta College in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh show an unfortunate turn of events. Bollywood singer Aditya Narayan was the center of discussion. In the viral video circulating online, he was seen losing his temper and engaging in physical violence with a member of the crowd.

The criticism is directed towards Aditya for not only engaging in physical violence but also flinging away the said person’s phone into the crowd. While the surface narrative paints a picture of an enraged artist, a deeper examination reveals a more nuanced and complex situation, especially with event organizers sketching another perspective of the story. According to the statements provided, the individual targeted was not a student of the institution where the event was organized and was constantly disrupting the performance by banging his phone against the singer’s feet. He was also dragging Narayan’s feet whenever he passed by, disrupting the performance and leading to the eventual anger outburst seen in the circulated video.  

The event manager, in an interview over Zoom, mentioned that Narayana had already interacted positively with the fan and took about 200 selfies with him, but the fan was persistent and while Narayana was performing he became disruptive and led to the unfolding of a negative series of events. Even after the incident, the concert proceeded smoothly for two hours, suggesting that Narayan’s outburst was an isolated incident in an otherwise successful event.

While the clarification justifies Narayana’s actions, the questions and criticism persist. The actions have met widespread disappointment and condemnation on social media, with statements commenting on his poor character and his actions tarnishing his family’s legacy in the entertainment industry. In 2017, Narayan was involved in a similar kind of case regarding a verbal altercation with airport personnel and hence critics argue his reaction was rather a result of his temper than the circumstances of the situation.
