WordPress is Ready to Empower the Ajmer Students by Workshops

Ajmer, a city in Rajasthan known for its temples and architecture, will now host its first-ever WordPress event, WP Campus Connect. This month-long initiative in October aims to empower students by introducing them to WordPress's many tools and opportunities. This interactive event will feature workshops at four colleges over four weekends, from October 5 to 26, 2024. Each workshop will be held on a different campus, allowing students to learn in a hands-on environment. Participants will benefit from comprehensive training sessions by seasoned professionals from the WordPress community. The workshops will focus on technical skills and explore various career paths within the WordPress ecosystem.

Pooja Derashri, one of the event organizers and co-founder of WPWibes, mentioned that the actual purpose of the event is to introduce a world of career opportunities for students, not to merely provide technical skills. This initiative will help students build valuable skills and give them a chance to connect with professionals and peers who can support them in their future endeavors.

The Ajmer WordPress Meetup group has been actively working since 2017, and the organizers had intended to engage with students even before the pandemic kept their activities silent. Eventually, they decided to shift their strategy to conduct workshops at various colleges instead of bringing students together in one location. WP Campus Connect is set to be an exciting hub for learning and collaboration with an anticipated turnout of 350 to 400 students. Educating students is not the only purpose of this event, but it is aimed at inspiring them to explore future careers in web development, digital marketing, and other related fields.

The organizers have listed the plans, including bringing in global speakers to share valuable insights from the industry, establishing a mentorship program that connects students with experienced WordPress professionals, hosting hackathons and competitions focused on WordPress, and partnering with industry leaders to create internships and job opportunities for students.

Recently, there has been a strong focus on attracting new users, particularly students, to WordPress. Josepha Haden Chomphosy, the Executive Director of the WordPress project, highlighted the significance of WP and how it helps students develop essential skills for their future careers. To support this initiative, WordPress.com is offering 1,000 free premium websites exclusively to university students.
