Cities such as Jaipur, Bhopal, Patna, Kanpur, and Indore have been chosen to host these campuses over the next five years.

In this groundbreaking initiative the University of Southampton is taking the lead as it recently got the license, the Delhi campus of this university is set to begin operations in the upcoming academic session, with admissions expected to open soon. Several other universities are also planning to announce their campus plans by next month.

Two undergraduate courses have already been launched, with an initial target of enrolling 1,000 Indian students. This fee structure is comparable to that of many private universities in India, making it a more accessible option for aspiring students.

In the session 2026, the British University Association aimed to welcome 100,000 students, including those from other South Asian countries. Each British university in India will expand its course offerings in the upcoming academic session. Currently, around 15,000 students are enrolled in online courses offered by these universities in India, and this number is expected to grow significantly with the new campuses opening. In addition to education, prestigious institutions like Oxford, Cambridge, and Manchester will collaborate with Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) on joint research projects in areas such as semiconductor technology and nanotechnology, according to reports.
