Bruce’s Journey: Merging Cultures and Advancing Rocket Science at Northwestern Polytechnical University

The passion for aerospace technology drove Bruce to undertake an inspirational adventure from Ghana to China. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Aerospace Science and Technology at Northwestern Polytechnical University in Xi'an and conducting advanced research on propellant combustion and other aerospace problems.

He was captivated by Sun Wukong, a character in the Chinese classic “Journey to the West” broadcast on national television, and relates to him because of his endurance and consistent efforts despite his weaknesses. After completing his Bachelor of Science from Ghana in aerospace programs he relocated to China and completed his Master’s Degree from Beijing Institute of Technology and later on moved to Xi'an to pursue a PhD at Northwestern Polytechnical University.

The advanced experimental environment and different academic activities at the university expanded his horizon and provided him with a proactive attitude demonstrating that dedication can lead to success. He expressed that living in China has been instructive, both in terms of Chinese culture and the aerospace business.

Over five years of study, he has consistently excelled and received numerous awards, crediting his success to the strong cooperation between China and Africa. As a leading student ambassador, he shared insights about China's aerospace industry with a wider audience. He wants to become an aerospace engineer and design an advanced rocket engine at the Chinese space station.
