Aadhaar and Facial Recognition to Strengthen CET 2025 Registration Process
KEA’s New Registration System to Ensure Transparent and Secure CET 2025 Process
Jan 31, 2025 |
To enhance the integrity and efficiency of the Common Entrance Test (CET) registration the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) has taken a significant step to implement Aadhaar-based authentication and an AI-powered facial recognition system. As the CET serves as the entry point for professional courses, including engineering, ensuring a secure and transparent registration process is essential. The introduction of three levels of authentication will fortify the system against fraudulent activities and streamline the entire registration experience for genuine applicants.
The KEA, aiming to tackle irregularities like seat blocking, proposed Aadhaar-based registration for exams such as the CET, NEET, and recruitment tests, which was approved by UIDAI. Prasanna H., Executive Director of KEA, explained that to safeguard students’ data, enhanced security features have been implemented. While registration has resumed, Aadhaar-linked authentication will be introduced in the next CET phase, alongside OTP verification and facial recognition for login.
He noted that students would need to enter their Aadhaar number when filling out the application or selecting their options. However, once the Aadhaar number is entered, an OTP will be sent to the mobile number linked to the Aadhaar account, generated directly by UIDAI. After entering the OTP, the application would proceed to the next stage.
Moreover, Aadhaar-based authentication would remain in place throughout the entire CET 2025 process, until the student reports to the college. KEA authorities advised students to use the mobile number linked to their Aadhaar during the CET process, as there would be no option to change the mobile number once the process had started.
Ultimately, the Karnataka Examinations Authority’s implementation of Aadhaar-based authentication and AI-powered facial recognition marks a significant step toward ensuring the integrity and transparency of the CET registration process.
Editor’s Note:
The introduction of Aadhaar-based authentication and added security features is designed to make the CET registration process more transparent and reduce fraud. This will allow KEA to verify each applicant's identity accurately, ensuring that only qualified candidates can register. Additionally, this change is part of the move towards digital modernization, reducing the need for manual checks and cutting down on human errors. Applicants will also enjoy a smoother, faster registration experience.
Skoobuzz sees this step as Karnataka's commitment to using technology to improve education systems and create a more secure and efficient future.
