Here is an exciting opportunity for all the Indian students who aspire to pursue a full-time Master’s degree program in the United Kingdom, the Ministry of Education has announced the opening of online applications for the 2025 Commonwealth Master’s Scholarship, available at cscuk.fcdo.gov.uk, starting in September and October 2025.

Students need to submit their applications through both the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission’s Online Application System and the Ministry’s SAKSHAT Portal, as the application window is now open and will close on October 15, 2024.

Eligibility:

• Applicants must be Indian citizens or permanent residents with at least an upper second-class degree, equivalent to a minimum of 60% marks in graduation, by September 2025. The scholarship is applicable only for one-year taught Master’s programs, excluding MBA degrees.
• Applicants have to demonstrate financial need, confirming that they would be unable to study in the UK without this scholarship. A confirmed offer of admission from a UK university listed on the CSC website must be secured by October 31, 2024.

Nomination and Selection Process:

The candidates will be nominated to the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission based on specific criteria including the QS ranking of the university where the applicant has secured an offer of admission, the applicant’s commitment to returning to India after completing their studies, and the applicant’s socio-economic background.

Nomination for the Commonwealth Master’s Scholarship does not guarantee selection, as the final decision rests with the Commonwealth Scholarship Commission. This scholarship is designed to support students who are committed to contributing to India’s development upon their return, aligning with the developmental themes outlined by the Commission.

These themes include science and technology for development, strengthening health systems, and promoting global prosperity. The scholarship is broadly offered under six developmental themes: science and technology for development; strengthening health systems and capacity; promoting global prosperity; enhancing global peace, security, and governance; strengthening resilience and response to crises; and ensuring access, inclusion, and opportunity.
