Haryana Government Takes Action After Bus Accident

Following the school bus accident in Mahendragarh, Haryana, Police reached the spot upon receiving the information about the bus and found the driver intoxicated. Mahendragarh Station House Officer (SHO) Uday Bhan stated that further investigation regarding the same is underway. The Additional Transport Commissioner has directed the officials to conduct an in-depth inquiry and submit a report, including the reasons for the mishaps and the names of the concerned officials from the office of DTO-cum-Secretary, RTA, Mahendragarh.

The State Education Minister, Seema Trikha stated that a show-cause notice was sent to the school involved, and in addition to this, it is now compulsory for all private schools to furnish an affidavit, which affirms that their vehicles are adhering to transportation regulations and standards. Furthermore, they are to provide an affidavit of the vehicle, stating that their vehicle is functioning according to the transport rules and norms.

Apart from the above, if any driver is found drunk, then the schools will be held accountable. Trikha has further reinforced that an FIR will be registered against the driver and the school principal and owner, in the bus accident case.

The RTA Assistant Secretary, Pradeep Kumar was suspended with immediate effect on Thursday, as he failed to check the vehicles plying on the road without valid documents which led to the accident of the school bus. The safety of students should be a priority for institutions they are entrusted with and the incident in Haryana highlights the repercussions of sheer negligence.
