Record Participation in CUET-UG: Results Announced and Admissions Process to Start

NTA Announces CUET-UG Results, Setting the Stage for Undergraduate Admissions

The National Testing Agency (NTA) officially announced the results of the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) on 28 July, marking a crucial milestone in the undergraduate admissions process for academic institutions across India. The release of these results is set to influence the upcoming academic year, as universities and colleges begin their selection processes for prospective students. The Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-UG results cleared the way for the undergraduate admissions process to begin, which had been postponed this year due to a controversy surrounding purported irregularities in competitive exams, such as the NEET-UG and UGC-NET. The subject of business studies had the most full marks scorers (8,024) in the CUET-UG this year. There are 5,141 full-mark scorers in Political Science, 2,520 in History, 1,683 in English, and 1,602 in Psychology.

7.09 Lakh students took the General Test, the highest number of applicants ever, and just one candidate received complete marks. There is at least one full-score student for each topic. Nevertheless, the NTA has not disclosed the number of hundredth percentiles obtained across several subjects this year. Last year's hundredth percentile scores were 22,836, which is higher than the 2022 total of 21,159. The CUET-UG 2024 provisional answer keys were made public by the NTA on July 7. A retest was administered on July 19 for over 1,000 candidates whose complaints the agency determined to be valid. The provisional answer key was open for candidates to contest from July 7 to July 9.

Approximately 9,512 answer keys for key challenges were received during this time, of which 1782 were unique challenges. Additionally, emails and letters were used to represent the candidates. The relevant subject matter experts were also shown them. A senior NTA official stated, “The final answer keys were prepared based on their feedback and after incorporating the changes, which were used in preparing the results of the CUET (UG)2024.” The 283 universities that took part in the CUET-UG 2024 will use the scorecard that was provided by the organization to create the merit list, and they will base their admission counseling sessions on this as well. The other subjects that had a high percentage of full marks scorers, included 430 in Economics/Business Economics, 398 in Chemistry, 373 in Geography/Geology, 180 in Agriculture, and 835 in Biology/Biological Studies/Biotechnology/Biochemistry.

In mathematics and applied mathematics, five individuals received complete marks, and in legal studies, seventeen. In the language courses of Telugu, French, Japanese, and Russian, one candidate received perfect scores. The NTA postponed the announcement of the CUET-UG results till June 30 to address reports of paper leaks in the NEET-UG, UGC-NET, and CSIR-UGC-NET exams. A night before the exam day in Delhi, the CUET-UG, which was held in hybrid mode for the first time in May, was canceled for "logistical reasons". Later on, the exam was conducted in the nation's capital. The NTA has previously said that the third iteration of the CUET-UG will be finished in seven days, with no score normalization because every exam will be administered in a single shift. Tests were conducted in two formats: pen and paper for 15 subjects and computer-based testing for the other 48. This year, more than 13.4 lakh applicants registered for the test to be considered for admission to 283 central, state, deemed, and private institutions' undergraduate programs. Technical issues beset the CUET-UG in its inaugural administration in 2022. Furthermore, because a subject's exams were administered over several shifts, the scores had to be normalized when the results were announced.

Editor’s Note:

Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) results showed that this year's test set new records for performance and participation. A record-breaking 7.09 lakh students took the National Testing Agency's (NTA) CUET-UG, demonstrating the exam's increasing importance in determining undergraduate admissions throughout India. For institutions, the CUET-UG results represent a significant turning point as they start the selection process for the next academic year. These findings will help colleges match candidates' qualifications with program needs and make well-informed admissions decisions. Since the CUET-UG is standardized, students from a variety of educational backgrounds can compete on an even playing field thanks to a fair evaluation method.

Skoobuzz would like to congratulate all of the candidates who took part in the CUET-UG and watch with interest as the outcomes influence students' academic possibilities and paths across the nation.
