B.Tech Branches Closed at Delhi Skill Development University Amidst Enrollment Challenges
Delhi Skill Development University Closes B.Tech Branches at Ashok Vihar, Pusa-I, and Okhla-II
Sep 06, 2024 |
Delhi Skill Development University has chosen to close its B.Tech branches at all three campuses: Okhla Phase II, Pusa-I, and Ashok Vihar since each branch had less than 20 students, according to an official order. Impacted students have been advised to choose other campuses or branches based on available seats.
The Aryabhatta DSEU Ashok Vihar campus's branches of Mechanical and Civil Engineering, the Pusa-I campus's branch of Electrical Engineering, and the Okhla-II campus's branches of network and Mechatronics Engineering are all closing. These engineering branches had a comparatively low student ratio of 11 students each for Civil and Electrical Engineering, 8 students for Mechanical Engineering, 9 students for Network Engineering, and 10 students for Mechatronics Engineering. Less than twenty B. Tech branches will remain closed at their campuses as per the Admission Board's clearance. Vice-Chancellor Ashok Kumar Nagawat of the DSEU said in a statement to PTI that the university would reimburse students' registration and admission costs in full if they decided not to transfer to other branches.
DSEU was created in 2020 by the Aam Aadmi Party, opposition leader in the Delhi Assembly Vijender Gupta described the current circumstances as revealing the AAP administration's "sham education model". The fact that only 20 students were drawn to the B.Tech programs which are usually much sought after shows, in Gupta's opinion, the true nature of Kejriwal's education reform, which was a major hoax. In addition, he charged that the university had forced students to transfer to different campuses.
In its defense, the AAP claimed that it is shameful that 1,606 schools had just one teacher during the BJP government in Gujarat in the last 20 years. The AAP charged that the BJP had a bad attitude toward education, citing the party's closure of more than 60,000 schools in the previous two years. On the other hand, the AAP asserted that its government is building top-notch schools in Punjab and Delhi, where kids from government schools are now getting into elite universities like IITs.
Editor's Note:
Delhi Skill Development University has recently announced the closure of five B.Tech branches across its campuses due to insufficient student enrollment. This decision impacts branches in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Network Engineering, and Mechatronics Engineering. Each of these programs had fewer than 20 students, prompting the university to shut them down. Affected students will be allowed to transfer to other branches or campuses, subject to availability. The university has also pledged to refund admission and registration fees to those who choose not to continue with the alternative options.
Skoobuzz anticipates that students will find better opportunities to continue their studies and requests the university to facilitate smooth transfers to other branches or campuses so students can recover their study loss.
