Delhi University Introduces Single Girl Child Quota and Streamlined CSAS System for Inclusive Admissions

Discover DU's Exciting Updates for 2024-2025 – Single Girl Child Quota, CUET Scores, and More!

DU Registrar Vikas Gupta announced that Delhi University is introducing a new quota for single girl students in this academic year which will create more opportunities for single girl children, allowing for more inclusive admissions.

The single-girl-child quota aims to make higher education more accessible and fair which will help more single girl children attend university and provide them support. Details on eligibility are still being finalised, but DU is confident that this step will benefit students.

Delhi University has started using the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) for undergrad admissions in 69 colleges and departments, offering a total of 71,000 seats. The CSAS makes the admission process simpler with two steps: first, students register on the CSAS portal, and second, seats are assigned to students.

The CSAS registration has been opened and will remain open for about a month. After the CUET UG results are announced on June 30, the second phase of admissions will begin. This will ensure that seats are allocated efficiently to deserving candidates. Late applicants can join by paying a Rs 1,000 fee. They can't take seats already given to those who applied on time. DU will use CUET scores for admissions to undergraduate, postgrad, and PhD courses.

DU has started admissions for the School of Open Learning (SOL) and Non-Collegiate Women’s Education Board (NCWEB) from June 3. For SOL and NCWEB, undergrad admissions will use Class 12 marks and some SOL postgraduate courses will also consider CUET scores. SOL has nine undergrad and eight postgrad programs, great for students who can't attend regular classes. NCWEB offers 12 BA and B.Com Pass course combos across 26 colleges, especially for women who can't go to regular college.

The first list for postgraduate, B.Tech, and the 5-year law program will tentatively be out by June 20. This year, DU has got over 2.6 million applications for different courses through CUET UG, with 763,000 unique candidates.

Popular courses like B.Tech, B.Com Hons, B.Com, and English Honours are in high demand among students. DU's use of CUET scores and the new single-girl child quota aims to attract a diverse and talented student community.

Delhi University is improving its admission processes to be more inclusive and accessible by introducing the single girl child quota, using CUET scores, and launching the streamlined CSAS system. These changes aim to give more fair chances to students to get admission to DU colleges and pursue the courses they wish to. Skoobuzz applauds for these changes being made as they will ensure a better selection process than past years.
