Delhi University Defers Law Exams After Protests Highlight Syllabus and Administrative Delays
Delhi University Delays Law Exams After Student Protests Over Incomplete Syllabus
Jan 05, 2025 |
Delhi University has postponed the scheduled examinations for law students due to growing unrest over the exam timetable. The decision came after protests broke out at the Campus Law Centre (CLC), with students expressing concerns about incomplete syllabus coverage and administrative delays.
The protest took place on December 16, resulting in clashes between students and the police. The exams were initially scheduled to begin on December 26 but were later postponed. The protesting students expressed concerns over incomplete syllabus coverage, mid-term faculty changes, delays in allocations, and sudden syllabus updates as reasons for their demand to extend the exam dates.
However, University officials stated that a revised date sheet would be released after consultations with the examination branch and other relevant parties. DU Proctor Rajni Abbi mentioned that the date sheet had been temporarily blocked, and exams would no longer start on December 26. She added that fresh arrangements were being worked on, and the new schedule would be announced soon. Anju Vali Tikoo, the dean and head of the law faculty did not comment on this matter.
The postponement of the law exams at Delhi University highlights the ongoing tensions surrounding the exam timetable and the concerns raised by students. As the university works on a revised schedule, addressing these grievances related to syllabus coverage and administrative delays will be crucial in restoring student confidence.
Editor’s Note:
The protests by Delhi University law students over the exam timetable highlight the flaws within the law department's academic structure. Students expressed concerns about incomplete syllabus coverage and mid-year faculty changes, leaving them unprepared for the exams. As the university moves forward with a revised schedule, the administration must address these issues promptly and transparently. A fair and thorough preparation process will be essential in restoring confidence in the institution's ability to manage its academic calendar effectively.
Skoobuzz hopes that the students' concerns will be resolved soon, ensuring a smooth academic experience for all.
