Innovative Showcase Highlights Faculty and Staff Creativity at DePaul Innovation Day

The sixth annual DePaul Innovation Day, themed "Connecting Ideas, Igniting Excellence," will be held on January 31, 2025, at DePaul University in Chicago. Co-sponsored by the Office of the Provost, the Office of Research Services, and the Office of University Events, the event provides a platform for faculty, staff, and students to share innovative research, creative activities, and teaching practices. This year's theme will focus on reimagining, refreshing, and revitalizing research, creative activities, teaching, and departmental work across the university. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP to participate in this exciting event.
Lauren Miller, director of research and innovation strategies, highlighted that Innovation Day provides a valuable opportunity for faculty and staff to connect, get inspired, and explore innovations across the university. She added that the event aims to foster collaborations and inspire ideas for everyday work.
This year’s DePaul Innovation Day will feature Andrea Sáenz, president and CEO of The Chicago Community Trust, as the keynote speaker. Recently recognized by Crain’s Chicago Business in its “Who’s Who in Chicago” and “Women of Note” lists, Sáenz serves on several influential boards, including the Economic Club of Chicago, National Louis University, and the Chicago Public Education Fund.
The event will feature dynamic discussions and collaborative activities such as:
- The panel Invitation to Innovate: Using Innovation Day as a Springboard will be chaired by Sarah Weisz, grant writer in the Office of Research Services.
- Campus and Community in Dialogue: Engaging Community Partners in Teaching and Scholarship will be led by Michelle Stuhlmacher, assistant professor in the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences.
- Creative Frontiers: How the Arts Transform Research and Innovation will be chaired by Rob Steel, professor at Jarvis College of Computing and Digital Media.
Entrepreneurial Thinking Across the Disciplines will be moderated by Gabriella Bucci, associate professor and director of the MS in Economics and Quantitative Analysis program at the Driehaus College of Business. The day will conclude with networking, refreshments, and The Innovation Showcase, where attendees can explore innovative products and solutions developed by DePaul faculty and staff. Attendees can seize the opportunity to connect and innovate at DePaul Innovation Day 2025, for this they should RSVP by January 24.
