DJ Group Secures Uttar Pradesh Government Approval for Groundbreaking Medicity Project

DJ Group of Institutions has announced plans to develop a medicity complex, advancing its transition from a medical education leader to a full-fledged medical university. The Uttar Pradesh Government approved the project on December 9th, 2024. This expansion follows JDMEHF’s net debt-free status after repaying ₹175 crores, backed by strong financial management and operational cash flows. The medicine will establish an integrated medical education and healthcare ecosystem in North India.

DJ Group of Institutions has unveiled an ambitious growth strategy targeting 100% year-on-year growth and a 10X revenue increase over the next 3-5 years. Rhitik Jassar, COO, highlighted the group’s strong financial health and strategic focus on strengthening capital adequacy and liquidity buffers to support a major capital expenditure cycle over the next 36 months. The group’s expansion includes four new institutions. The DJ College of Medical Sciences and Research will offer MBBS, postgraduate (MD/MS), and super-speciality DM/MCh courses. DJ College of Law & Juridical Sciences will provide specialized programs in medical law alongside LLB and integrated BA-LLB courses.

The DJ College of Paramedical Sciences will offer advanced diploma programs in healthcare support services like operation theatre technology, physiotherapy, and clinical nutrition. The Jassar Business School will provide specialized business administration programs, including an MBA in Healthcare Administration. The expansion includes a 605-bed teaching hospital designed to meet corporate healthcare standards, with plans to expand to 1,100 beds. Creative Designer Architects (CDA), known for designing facilities for Max Hospitals, Fortis Healthcare, and AIIMS, is handling the medical complex's design. Ravideep Singh, Associate Director at CDA Architects, stated that the design will leverage decades of experience to create a world-class healthcare facility, ensuring compliance with National Medical Commission standards and setting new benchmarks in healthcare delivery.

Jassar highlighted that the project challenges the belief that private hospitals always deliver superior care, citing prestigious teaching hospitals like AIIMS and CMC Vellore as examples of institutions with excellent research and medical teams. He emphasized that success lies in institution building, integrity, and quality care, noting that focusing on excellence attracts top talent and presents an untapped opportunity in North India's private medical sector. The group’s residential infrastructure supports 1,500 dental students and 500 faculty across eight blocks. A renovated 100,000-square-foot hostel now houses 600 students. The campus features premium amenities, including a 20,000 square meter green area, football and cricket fields, indoor sports facilities, and a developing sports complex with a gym, swimming pool, and tennis and basketball courts.

The DJ Group of Institutions is planning a 22.05-acre site redevelopment to create a cutting-edge medicity complex, aiming for LEED Platinum certification for energy efficiency and ESG excellence. Rhitik Jassar highlighted the long-term vision, with 50-year plans for civic amenities, including expansive walkways, wide roads, solar grids, and advanced air quality systems. Jassar emphasized that educational institutions require long-term nurturing and commitment, with success measured by generational impact rather than short-term growth. He explained that the expansion aims to create multiple revenue streams while maintaining excellence in medical education, with a vision to transform the campus into a space representing health, happiness, and usefulness.
