A Joint Initiative by IIT-Madras and National Defence College to Develop Next-Gen Leaders

IIT-Madras Partners with NDC for Executive MBA Focused on Advanced Leadership Skills

The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT M) and the National Defence College (NDC) announced a new relationship on September 5 to develop an Executive MBA program in "Strategic Leadership and Public Policy." This year-long program, which focuses on practical application, will consist of 48 weeks of lectures and interactive modules, leading up to a thesis.

A total of 120 Members of the Indian Armed Forces, Indian Civil Services, Indian Police Services, and other government agencies will be a part of this program and will be selected by comprehensive screening procedure. Officers from allied foreign countries will also be enrolled in the course. The Executive MBA Programme at the National Defence College (NDC) will be taught by academics from IIT Madras' Department of Management Studies, Aerospace, and other departments, in collaboration with subject matter experts and instructors from the NDC.

Typically, service officers at the rank of brigadier or higher qualify for this program. Officers in the civil and diplomatic services must be eligible to hold the position of Director or Joint Secretary to the Indian government. Selected senior officers from the Indian Armed Forces, friendly foreign countries, and India's civilian government services (such as IAS, IPS, IRS, and DRDO) are the target audience for this program, which seeks to strengthen their intellectual and strategic skills. The official announcement from IIT Madras states that the goal of this program is to get them ready for leadership positions at a higher level.

Brigadier Rajesh Raman, the secretary of the National Defence College in New Delhi, and Professor M. Thenmozhi, the head of the department of management studies at IIT Madras, inked an agreement for the Executive MBA program. The signing was witnessed by Dipti Mohil Chawla, the Ministry of Defence's Additional Secretary, and Prof. V. Kamakoti, the Director of IIT Madras. According to Prof.Kamakoti, this MBA program has been intended to satisfy the requirement for managers who have a deep understanding of new technologies in light of the changing global scene.
