IIT Madras Launches Free 3-Month IT Training Program for College Students

In a significant move towards enhancing the skill set of college students, the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology Madras has launched a commendable initiative by introducing a free IT training program. This program aims to equip students with essential Information Technology skills, providing them with a competitive edge in the ever-evolving digital landscape.

The program is designed to cater to students from diverse academic backgrounds, enabling them to acquire fundamental IT skills regardless of their prior experience in the field. Through a structured curriculum and hands-on training modules, participants will have the opportunity to enhance their understanding of key IT concepts, programming languages, and emerging technologies.

Moreover, the free IT training program serves as a platform for students to explore their interests in Information Technology, fostering a culture of innovation and creativity. By encouraging active participation and collaboration, IIT Madras aims to nurture a new generation of tech-savvy individuals who are well-equipped to meet the demands of the digital era.

Highlights of the Training Program:

The program encompasses a diverse range of subjects, such as Networking Essentials, Cloud Fundamentals, Ticketing Tools, Linux and Windows Basics, Storage and Backup Fundamentals, and Soft Skills. The training is provided at no cost and lasts for 3 months and will be conducted in a classroom setting. IITM Pravartak will carefully handpick students for the training program, aiming to equip them with industry-relevant expertise in these key tech skill domains.

Eligibility criteria:

BSc graduates from 2023 and 2024 (in Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biotechnology) and BCA students with a minimum aggregate of 60%.

The program aims to equip students with the skills needed to join the IT Support team of small or mid-sized organisations. Placement support will be offered through mock interviews and promotional activities, although placement is not guaranteed and the tentative commencement date for the program is June 2024 to September 2024.
