Inclusive Education: YouTube Launches Multilingual Learning Channels for Students Across India
AI-Powered Learning: Google's Innovative Approach to Enhancing Education in India

Article 21A and Article 45 of the Indian Constitution aim to ensure inclusive and equal access to education for every child. The Indian government has worked tirelessly to make education accessible through initiatives such as free education in government schools, digital learning platforms, and financial support programs like the PM Vidyalaxmi policy and various scholarships. A significant step forward in this effort is Google's strategic partnership with the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) to provide engaging, multilingual, and inclusive digital learning resources for students, parents, and teachers across India.
Jonathan Katzman, Director of Product Management at YouTube Learning, emphasized YouTube's focus on learning and its commitment to making education more accessible in India. As part of the partnership with NCERT, YouTube will launch channels for students from grades 1 to 12, offering content in 29 Indian languages, including Indian Sign Language, to ensure inclusivity and accessibility for diverse learners.
In addition, Google has partnered with the National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) to offer credentialed courses on YouTube in subjects such as pure sciences, sports psychology, literature, and rocket propulsion. Learners can earn certifications through the NPTEL-SWAYAM portal, supported by India's IITs. Katzman noted that this initiative provides an opportunity for individuals outside the IIT system to access these courses, with more courses to be added in the future.
Google is also leveraging AI to enhance learning by identifying key concepts in videos and providing definitions, images, and context from its Knowledge Graph. This feature will cover subjects like biology, physics, and chemistry, offering learners immediate clarity and additional resources alongside the video content. Their partnerships with NCERT and NPTEL, along with its use of AI, are significant steps toward making education more accessible, inclusive, and engaging across India.
Editor’s Note:
Education accessibility is flourishing in India, as the government is committed to achieving 100% accessible and affordable education for all students. The integration of digital technology has transformed the educational landscape, creating new opportunities to reach every student with a desire to learn. A game-changing development is Google’s strategic partnership with NCERT and NPTEL, which focuses on inclusivity, accessibility, and innovation. These initiatives empower students across the country, making quality education more widely available. Google's use of AI and its multilingual resources further enhance this vision, providing students with not only educational content but also context and clarity, helping them thrive in an increasingly digital world.
Skoobuzz believes that the government's vision of providing accessible, quality education is becoming a reality through these strategic partnerships. It is not far off when every Indian student will have access to education, contributing to raising the literacy rate to 100%.
