Gujarat launches Rs 1,650 crore schemes for students in classes 9 to 12

Gujarat allocates Rs 1,650 crore to bolster girls' education

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel launched two groundbreaking schemes on Saturday, aimed at providing substantial financial assistance to students in Classes 9 to 12. The state government has allocated a significant sum of Rs 1,650 crore in the budget for the implementation of these schemes.

One of the flagship initiatives, the "Namo Lakshmi Yogana," is specifically designed to uplift girls studying in Classes 9 to 12. Under this scheme, these young female learners will receive a generous amount of Rs 50,000 over four years. This visionary scheme aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's commitment to promoting and advancing girls' education in the country.

As part of the Namo Lakshmi Yogana, girls enrolled in Classes 9 to 12 will be entitled to monthly financial assistance of Rs 500 for ten months each year. Additionally, upon successfully clearing the Class 10 board exam, they will receive an additional sum of Rs 10,000. This comprehensive financial support aims to encourage girls to pursue their education with financial security, ultimately contributing to the empowerment of women in the state.

The second major initiative introduced by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel is the "Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana." This scheme is designed to encourage and support students who have opted for the science stream in Classes 11 and 12. Both male and female students in this stream will be eligible for financial assistance under this program.

Under the Namo Saraswati Vigyan Sadhana Yojana, students in Classes 11 and 12, pursuing science education, will receive Rs 750 per month for ten months each year. Upon successfully clearing the Class 12 board exam, an additional financial incentive of Rs 15,000 will be provided. This initiative not only aims to make science education more accessible but also recognizes and rewards the efforts of students dedicated to this critical field.

The launch event took place at Gyanda High School in Ahmedabad, where Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel unveiled these schemes. The ceremony witnessed the virtual participation of approximately 35,000 students and educators, emphasizing the broad-reaching impact of these transformative initiatives.

These schemes are not merely financial assistance programs; they represent a collective vision to empower women and youth in Gujarat through education. By providing substantial support to girls pursuing education and encouraging students in the science stream, the state government aims to create a more inclusive and progressive educational landscape.

The successful implementation of these schemes is expected to have a far-reaching impact on the academic pursuits of students, fostering a culture of learning, innovation, and gender equality. As Gujarat invests significantly in the education of its youth, these initiatives stand as a testament to the state's commitment to nurturing a well-educated and empowered generation.
