Health Minister Rane Celebrates GMC’s Expansion to 200 MBBS Seats and More Postgraduate Opportunities.

GMC Announced Increase in MBBS and MD/MS Seats to Enhance Medical Education

The National Medical Commission has approved an increase in MBBS seats to 200 by issuing a Letter of Permission, according to a statement released by Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim on 11 September. GMC being the largest government hospital in the state, was previously permitted to provide 150 MBBS seats, adding more seats enabled it to take in more students and help them fulfill their dreams of becoming qualified medical professionals.

The addition of seats in several postgraduate MD/MS courses has been approved, there will now be seven seats available for MD Radiodiagnosis, fifteen seats for MS General Surgery, eight seats for MS Obstetrics and Gynecology, four seats for MD Pharmacology, and ten seats for MD Pediatrics. The rise in seat capacity is a reflection of GMC’s unwavering commitment to promoting medical excellence and fulfilling the expanding healthcare requirements of the area. The college is still committed to providing top-notch education to the upcoming generation of medical professionals.

Health Minister Vishwajit Rane stated that the expansion will allow the college to educate more aspirational medical professionals. He pointed out that more postgraduate MD/MS and MBBS seats in several specialties, including radiodiagnosis, general surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pharmacology, and pediatrics, are included in the permission.
