Exploring Identity Narratives and Creative Expressions in Contemporary Literature

IILM University's Literature Festival celebrated diversity and creativity in contemporary arts and literature over two days, bringing together prominent authors, readers, and thinkers for engaging sessions and insightful discussions.

Themed "Identity Narratives: Exploring Diversity in Contemporary Literature," the event, organized by the School of Liberal Arts, commenced with an inaugural speech by Ms. Somya Sharma, Assistant Professor of Journalism and Mass Communication, followed by a Welcome Address by Prof (Dr.) Taruna Gautam, Vice Chancellor of the University. The festivities began with a delightful musical performance by students, setting a joyous tone for the event.

A standout session featured musician and singer Ms. Vidya Shah in the 'Artist Spotlight,' where she shared insights into her craft, emphasizing the importance of patience and repetition. Ms. Shah also discussed national funding for artists and the evolving landscape of entertainment and culture.

Students showcased their interpretations of identity through visual art in the 'Colorful Canvas Challenge,' promoting dialogue and expression. Additionally, they exhibited creativity in the 'Cathartic: Expressions of Art' competition, designing captivating book covers inspired by literary classics.

The festival continued with captivating performances by students, including classical dance and musical renditions. A panel discussion featuring distinguished personalities such as Mr. Suhail Mathur, Mr. Sharif D Rangekar, and Ms. Rachana Yadav delved into identity and literature, addressing challenges faced by diverse communities in contemporary literary discourse.

Assistant Professor of English Literature, Aditi Gupta, highlighted the festival's role in promoting inclusivity and converging diverse perspectives. Dr. Devapriya Roy explored the connection between identity and narrative, emphasizing the effectiveness of graphic novels and comics in storytelling for young audiences.

The Literature Festival concluded with a book-reading session by celebrated author Dr. Nandini Sen, offering profound insights into themes of feminism and societal observation through her book, "The Second Wife and Other Stories."
