IIM Calcutta's MBA Students Secure 564 Offers Amidst Competitive Job Market

Record-Breaking Stipends at IIM Calcutta: Average Monthly Stipend Hits ₹1.89 Lakh

IIM Calcutta completed its summer placements for the 61st batch of the flagship MBA program with 100 percent placements on October 25, securing a total of 564 offers for 475 students. Along with this achievement, the average monthly stipend reached ₹1.89 lakh, with the median stipend at ₹2 lakh, which the institute claims is a new record. The highest domestic monthly stipend was ₹3.67 lakh, while the highest international monthly stipend stood at ₹6.75 lakh. Additionally, the top 5 percentile of students received a monthly stipend of ₹3 lakh.

IIM Calcutta conducted the placement process in a hybrid mode, with 175 recruiters offering various cross-functional roles across multiple sectors. The cluster-cohort placement process, which included policies like the "dream offer," allowed recruiters to identify candidates that were a better fit for their needs. This approach created a win-win situation for both recruiters and students, enhancing the overall placement experience.

IIM Calcutta observed participation from firms across all major sectors, including FMCG, manufacturing, finance, consulting, technology, analytics, pharmaceuticals, and education, among others. Professor Ritu Mehta, Chairperson of placement activities, expressed that the summer internship offers reflect the future readiness of their students in a highly competitive landscape. Globally there is an ongoing recalibration of managerial jobs and a pullback in job postings. In this situation, recruiters placed their trust in the university’s students and the academic processes making individuals at IIM Calcutta highly grateful to them.
