Improving Medical Facilities: IIT Kanpur’s CME Program Aims to Improve Patient Care

To improve the Medical services by enhancing the professional performance of Medical officers and paramedical staff, IIT Kanpur has launched a Continuing Medical Education (CME) program. As part of this initiative, the institute’s Health Centre has begun a lecture series to improve patient care and strengthen ties with referral services. The program will begin with a range of comprehensive lectures presented by prominent doctors who guide the attendees on preventing and screening common kidney diseases, managing needle stick injuries in clinical settings, breast cancer screening, and the latest advancements in tackling cancer-related issues.

In addition to this a detailed examination of fever management in pediatric patients, addressing both routine and complex cases, how to handle cardiac emergencies in primary care, unique eye emergencies faced by the IIT Kanpur community, and common skin conditions, offering practical guidance on diagnosis and treatment to enhance dermatological care will be covered.

Alongside the CME program, IIT Kanpur provides a diverse array of continuing and distance education offerings such as short-term courses, workshops, online certificates, web courses, and internships, available for students, academic, scientific, technical staff, professionals, and other interested individuals both within and outside the institute.

These initiatives aim to create opportunities for learners to enhance their knowledge and develop skills for professional advancement. All academic outreach activities such as conferences, workshops, symposia, short-term courses, training, and internship programs are managed by the Centre for Continuing Education (CCE). The CCE is responsible for providing essential logistical and administrative support for these programs and is actively developing strategies to achieve self-sustainability in the future.
