Get Future Ready: Short Duration Online Courses from IITs Available For All

Students have the biggest opportunity to get admission to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) without cracking the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE). These short-duration and certificate courses boost students' skills and enrich their knowledge in different fields.

In this series of certificate programs, the first is IIT Madras, offering a BSc in Data Science, allowing students to enroll in this modern course without any entrance examination. Students require only a basic understanding of  Class 10-level maths and a passing mark in Class 12. After completing the first month of the course, students should go through a qualifier exam conducted by the institute which allows them to move on to the foundation stage of the program. There are no age and stream restrictions for joining the program, so anyone can apply. The BSc in Data Science at IIT Madras is structured in three stages: the foundational program, the diploma program, and the degree program. Enrolled students will have the flexibility to exit the program at any stage and receive a certificate, diploma, or degree based on their progress. Interested students will need to pay a fee for the entrance exam.

Next is IIT Kanpur, which offers a certification program in Python for artificial intelligence, machine learning, and deep learning. This four-week online certificate program will cover essential tools such as NumPy, Linear Algebra, Matplotlib, Pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, and Keras. This course is designed for scholars, students, faculty members, industry professionals, and R&D staff looking to gain hands-on experience and learn practical implementation techniques. Candidates who want to pursue this certification program do not require any prior programming experience. The program will run from December 1 to December 27. In addition to this University is launching a certificate program in Cloud Computing and DevOps, in collaboration with the E & ICT Academy. This eight-month course has a fee of ₹1,49,998, with an option for no-cost EMI. Candidates must have completed their graduation with a minimum score of 50%, and non-programming students are welcome to apply. The program includes over 30 hands-on projects, culminating in a capstone project across three domains.

The next in the series is IIT Roorkee, which in collaboration with iHub Divya Sampark, has launched a certificate program in Generative AI and Machine Learning. This 11-month program costs ₹1,34,999 and has limited seats available. Students will benefit from live virtual classes taught by industry experts, interactive hands-on projects in integrated labs, self-paced video content, and opportunities for collaborative learning with peers. Students will also enjoy a two-day campus immersion experience at IIT Roorkee. The course is open to professionals, recent graduates, engineers, project managers, and data professionals.

In continuation, IIT Delhi has launched a certificate program in UI and UX design, starting on November 23. The six-month course comes with a fee of ₹1,50,000 plus GST and is open to students who hold a graduate degree and have at least one year of work experience. The curriculum covers various topics, including capstone projects, affinity mapping, card sorting, and ecosystem mapping, providing a comprehensive understanding of UI and UX design. Candidates who score at least 60% overall and maintain a minimum attendance of 50% will receive a certificate of successful completion from CEP, IIT Delhi. Those who do not meet the score requirement will receive a certificate of participation instead.
