India Chosen to Host 2025 International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics Following Flag Handover

The Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE), TIFR, aims to advance equity and excellence in science and mathematics education from primary school through undergraduate college levels, while also fostering the growth of scientific literacy across the country. announced that India will host the 18th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA). The event is going to take place in Mumbai in August 2025. The notification further mentioned that at the IOAA 2024 closing ceremony, the Indian team received the official IOAA flag.

17th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA), which was held in Brazil in 2024, the Indian team had noteworthy success. Aayush, Banibrata, Panini, and Sanidhya all took home silver medals, while Daksh won the gold,  four silver medals and one gold medal were won by them. HBCSE praised the mentors and students for their outstanding performance at the Vassouras, Brazil, event.

Indian students recently participated in international science competitions where they won two gold and three silver medals in the 54th International Physics Olympiad (IPhO). Additionally, they took home one gold, one bronze, and two silver medals from the 56th International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO2024).
