Inter University Athletic Competitions to be Held at Utkal University from 15 February

Utkal University Hosts State Level Inter University Athletic Competitions to Celebrate Sportsmanship and Talent

Under the patronage and guidance of the Higher Education Department and State Higher Education Council, state-level Inter-University Athletic Competitions-2024 will be organized from February 15 to 19 in Utkal University, Bhubaneswar details of which were shared by the vice-chancellor, Prof Sabita Acharya.

With an expected number of 1000 participants, the event will also be graced by the presence of nominated athletes from 38 universities across Orissa and will be organized in the Kalinga Stadium and Biju Pattanaik Sports Complex of Utkal University. 

With a cap of 2 students for every event from each participating university the competitions are organised to nurture leadership skills, team spirit, feeling of brotherhood, along with showcasing university student’s talents.

The list of events includes competitions like the long jump, discus throw, relay race, hurdle race, putting the shot, javelin throw, and races (100, 200, 400, 800, and 1500 meter) and cultural programs displaying Odisha’s heritage, culture and art at the Utkal University Convocation Hall during the evenings.

Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Minister of Higher Education, Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Co-operation, Aravind Agarwal, secretary, Higher Education, and Olympian Anuradha Biswal will grace the inaugural ceremony which will be held on the first day.

On February 19, in the University Convocation Hall and the presence of Bhubaneswar Mayor Sulochana, the valedictory function will be organized, and the winners will be celebrated and felicitated with cash prizes, trophies, and certificates.
