Live Coverage and Olympic-Style Format Highlight This Year's State School Sports Festival

Kerala's State School Sports Festival Goes High-Tech This November!

The Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE), under the Department of General Education in Kerala, is modernizing the upcoming State School Sports Festival, scheduled to take place in Cochin from November 4 to 11. This year’s event will combine athletics and games in an Olympic-style format for the first time along with implementing various technological solutions to enhance the organization and coverage of the festival.

KITE’s dedicated portal, www.sports.kite.kerala.gov.in, will organize and track 730 competitions, providing real-time updates, results, meet records, and progress across 17 venues. Additionally, the portal features a School Sports Unique Identification Number (SSUID) to track each student’s performance from the sub-district to the national level. Later on, results will be categorized by district and school, along with photos of the winners.

KITE has also launched a mobile app to facilitate the registration of students participating at the state level. Daily broadcasts will start at 6:30 AM and continue until 8 PM, with KITE VICTERS providing live visuals from three key venues. The main studio will be set up at Maharaja’s Stadium, with additional coverage from Kadavanthra Sports Hub and M.A. College Kothamangalam. Live coverage of cycling and sprint events will be provided through helicopter for real-time streaming.

Live telecasts will begin with the inauguration ceremony on November 4, offering detailed updates on results, point standings, interviews, and slow-motion replays of finals on KITE VICTERS. Renowned sports commentators from the Athletics Federation of India, including Sreekumaran Nair, Griselda Xavier, Abhilash, Simi Maryam, and Mahesh, will provide commentary throughout the event. Viewers can tune in via the app, victers.kite.kerala.gov.in, KITE’s YouTube channel (itsvicters), and the e-Vidya Kerala channel. KITE’s dedicated platform, School Wiki (www.schoolwiki.in), will feature continuous photo updates from all event venues.

Teams of Little KITES students will handle documentation, create promotional videos, and develop social media reels, while students from the Kerala Media Academy will also contribute to these activities. This festival will cover all 17 venues with expanded facilities and a team of over 70 technical staff deployed by KITE. K.

The integration of a dedicated portal and mobile app, along with comprehensive live coverage, promises to enhance the experience for both participants and viewers. This initiative will help prepare students for various sports, elevating the competition to an Olympic-style level.
