Dia Mirza Narrates Ellie’s Story in Groundbreaking Workshop at Meru International School

PETA India's 'Ellie' Workshop at Meru International School Inspires Students with Lessons on Empathy

As Mahatma Gandhi mentioned, “The greatness of a nation can be judged by the way its animals are treated.” Indian culture has always emphasised treating animals with love and care which not only protects our biosphere but also teaches us empathy. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is a prominent non-governmental organization (NGO) that is dedicated to ending animal abuse and advancing animal rights. Their mission encompasses protecting animals from cruelty across various sectors including laboratories, the food industry, clothing trade, and entertainment.

PETA India proudly held Asia's first-ever 'Ellie' workshop at Meru International School, a ground-breaking occasion that has set norms for compassion-driven education. This historic event fulfilled the school's mission to foster kindness and empathy among its students. Ellie, a fantastic animatronic elephant created by PETA India, captivated and inspired young students by eloquently illustrating the emotional and social nuances of elephants.

The story about the struggles elephants face in circuses, captivity, and hard labor captivated the kids. Dia Mirza, the renowned actress and UN Environment Program Goodwill Ambassador, brought the world to life with her engaging narration. Her storytelling not only fascinated the children but also taught them why elephants should be free in their natural habitats, sparking their interest in learning more about these amazing animals. The founder of Meru International School, Ms. Meghana Gorukanti Jupally, expressed her delight in organizing this innovative session and showcasing the school's commitment to fostering empathy and kindness for all living things. She said that it is important to make sensitive decisions about animals as well as people and the environment.

With a strong integration of empathy into its teaching ethos, Meru International School proudly stands as a major player in this compassionate movement as this elephant character continues her tour across India. This workshop is a big step toward a more hopeful and compassionate future where kids are motivated to love and care for all living things.
The school is a distinguished establishment renowned for providing high-quality instruction and fostering an environment that is inclusive and rich in culture for its pupils. MIS, which has locations in Tellapur and Miyapur, is committed to using a comprehensive approach to education to mold the future of the following generation.
