MPSC Postpones August 25 Preliminary Exam Due to Protests: Updated Date Coming Soon.

MPSC Responds to Protests with Exam Postponement: New Schedule to Be Announced

A yearly examination known as the Subordinate Exam or MPSC Combined Exam is conducted by the Maharashtra Public Service Commission. The purpose of this test is to find applicants for several jobs in Maharashtra government departments, such as Assistant Section Officer (ASO), State Tax Inspector (STI), and Police Sub Inspector (PSI).

The Maharashtra Gazetted Civil Services Combined Preliminary Examination was initially planned for August 25, however on August 22 in an official order MPSC stated the postponement of this examination. Candidates who are preparing for the exam have been protesting since  August 20 and demanding for new date allocation as the MPSC exam date is clashing with the Indian Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) exam for clerk positions. The MPSC promised to release the exam's revised date in due course.

Students expressed their displeasure and insisted on their main demand, that is, the inclusion of 258 vacancies in the agriculture department in the MPSC exam which had not yet been met. They promised to keep up the agitation until all of their requests were met. Sharad Pawar, the leader of the NCP (SP), had also backed the candidates and had vowed to participate in the demonstrations if the government did not make its position clear.

NCP (SP) president Sharad Pawar stated that The state government must take the interests of students sitting for the MPSC exam into account. But it doesn't seem like the government is taking the problem seriously as their actions are just confined to joining the protestors to support their cause. Legislator Rohit Pawar of the NCP (SP) has already joined the agitating candidates and is taking part in their demonstrations.

Editor’s Note:

Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) decided to postpone the August 25 Maharashtra Gazetted Civil Services Combined Preliminary Examination due to the protest of students from August 22 in Pune. The demonstrators were asking for rescheduling of the date of the exam as well as other adjustments to fulfill their demands. Although MPSC assured of the new date soon. Prominent politicians such as Sharad and Rohit Pawar, have endorsed the candidates and emphasised the necessity of the government successfully addressing their requests.

Skoobuzz supports the MPSC's postponement of the preliminary exam as a necessary step to address candidates' concerns but emphasizes the need for prompt action and a clear schedule for the exam.
