Directorate of Medical Education Announces Key Adjustments to NEET UG Counseling Process.

Important NEET UG Changes: Minimum Marks for PWD Candidates Reduced, Physical Round Cancelled

West Bengal NEET UG counseling process got a significant change as the Directorate of Medical Education, West Bengal, has announced the cancellation of the Physical Stray Vacancy Round for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Undergraduate (NEET UG) medical and dental counseling, making the counseling process three rounds long.

The Physical Stray Vacancy Round is a specific phase in the medical and dental counseling process to allocate seats that were not filled and whose status changed at the last moment. The official order confirmed that the previous inclusion of the Physical Stray Round in the counseling process was an unintentional glitch that created an incorrect listing of an additional round. Now the minimum qualifying marks in the subjects of physics, chemistry, and biology for PWD candidates have changed, making the students require a minimum of 40 percent combined marks in these subjects, down from the previously required 50 percent as per the updated regulations of the Directorate. This revision aligns with the guidelines set forth by the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the Dental Council of India (DCI).

Furthermore, registration for Round 1 of the WB NEET UG counseling for state quota seats is currently open. Candidates who have successfully passed the NEET UG 2024 examination can now register on the official website, wbmcc.nic.in. This registration process is crucial for securing admission to MBBS and BDS programs at medical and dental colleges throughout West Bengal. The registration window for Round 1 will remain open until August 23, 2024.
