SCU Delegation Visits India to Foster Educational Partnerships and Sustainable Growth

Access25 Initiative: SCU Aims to Make International Education Accessible for Indian Students

Southern Cross University is taking a bold step to enhance educational collaboration between Australia and India with the launch of its Access25 initiative. Aimed at making international education more accessible for Indian students in 2025, the initiative reflects the university’s commitment to providing top-quality education at an affordable cost. By setting the tuition fees for international students at $25,000 per year, Southern Cross University aspires to offer students the best value for their investment in higher education.

A delegation from Southern Cross University, led by Prof. Mary Spongberg, is visiting India to meet with academic counterparts and explore partnerships with institutions like Datta Meghe Institute of Medical Sciences, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, and IIBT Bombay. Prof. Christina Aggar will visit the Asha Community Health and Development Society, and she and Prof. Jon Wardle will host talks on fostering sustainability partnerships in healthcare.

Prof. Mary Spongberg stated that Southern Cross University aims to expand its presence in the Indian market through research, industry, and community collaborations. She emphasized the importance of genuine partnerships, impactful research, co-designed projects, and shared student experiences. She also highlighted that working together and sharing postgraduate students fosters trust, friendships, and cooperation.

She acknowledged the challenges Australian universities, including SCU, have faced due to the changing visa landscape. However, she emphasized that these issues had not impacted SCU, which remains confident and open for business. She also noted that the region, with its established Indian communities, offers a supportive environment for Indian students. With these efforts, Southern Cross University looks forward to building lasting connections and fostering mutual growth between Australia and India.
