No Idea is Small: Smart India Hackathon Waiting For New Innovative Ideas, Register Till September 12

From Ideas To Innovation: Register for the 7th Edition of Smart India Hackathon Today!

“Smart India" embodies a vision of a nation that harnesses technology, innovation, and sustainable development to significantly improve the quality of life for its citizens. The Ministry of Education, AICTE branch launched the Smart India Hackathon nationwide in 2017, designed to provide students with a platform to address pressing real-world problems and foster a culture of product innovation and problem-solving.
 

The hackathon features two formats: SIH Software and SIH Hardware Editions, and has been held annually since its inception. SIH 2023, over 50,000 ideas were submitted by 44,000 teams, marking a sevenfold increase from the first edition. The grand finale featured more than 12,000 participants and 2,500 mentors and will be held across 48 nodal centers nationwide. SIH also offers students the chance to work on challenges from private sector organizations, helping them to create world-class solutions and connect with top companies. The seventh Smart India Hackathon was officially announced by  K Sanjay Murthy, Secretary of the Department of Higher Education (DHE) on August 8, 2024. The ceremony took place via video conference from the AICTE headquarters in New Delhi. Students from higher education institutes (HEIs) across India can register for the hackathon until September 12, 2024.

 

Professor TG Sitharam, Chairman of the AICTE, and Vice Chairman Abhay Jere attended the launch event. Professor Sitharam welcomed the program and urged participants to use the platform to foster innovation and contribute to the "Vikasit Bharat" agenda. The Godrej Group has sponsored the hackathon.

 

Important dates for the Smart India Hackathon Programme:
 

  • Ideas Submission Starts: August 8, 2024
  • Idea Screening Begins: September 15, 2024
  • Idea Screening Ends: October 30, 2024
  • Mentoring Begins: October 15, 2024
  • Mentoring Ends: November 15, 2025
  • Finals: November 2024

 

K Sanjay Murthy addressed the pivotal role of the National Education Policy (NEP) and highlighted the Smart India Hackathon's (SIH) contribution to fostering and enhancing academic collaborations. He also encouraged students to actively participate in developing innovative solutions to build a sustainable future.
The seventh edition of the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) features a diverse array of 202 problem statements contributed by 20 central ministries, 5 state governments, 3 public sector undertakings, and 3 private organizations. Organized by the Ministry of Education, SIH provides students with the opportunity to develop practical solutions, setting high standards for innovation and entrepreneurship.
