Students Learn Road Safety Techniques at Bidhannagar Commissionerate's Workshop

Taking Steps to Prevent Accidents and Educate the Youth on Safe Practices

The traffic wing of the Bidhannagar Commissionerate organized a road safety workshop for students, drawing participation from over 40 students representing two schools near the airport. Conducted by a team from the Airport traffic guard, the workshop aimed to impart crucial safety techniques to prevent accidents.

In response to a recent tragic incident involving a Class VII student from The Newtown School, who lost her life in a two-wheeler accident, the workshop was initiated as part of a broader road safety campaign by the Bidhannagar Commissionerate.

During the workshop, students received guidance on exercising caution while riding two-wheelers, including tips on safe riding practices and proper overtaking maneuvers, especially in the vicinity of heavy vehicles. Additionally, they were reminded to exercise vigilance while crossing roads.

The workshop marks the beginning of an ongoing effort to educate students on road safety, with plans for more such initiatives in the future, according to a police official.

Editor's Note

The initiative by the traffic wing was a commendable measure to ensure the safety of the students and to prevent unfortunate accidents further down the line. Steps like these are often ignored by institutions but are essential in making the youth aware of how to take care of themselves apart from having a group of alert adults around them. Involving students instills a sense of responsibility in them and raises individuals who will further down the time to ensure the safety of those around them.
