According to the latest reports, the state recorded 16,162 Indian student enrollments, reflecting a 4% increase from the previous year. Indian students now make up 28% of all international enrollments, highlighting the state’s growing support for students through enhanced employment pathways and academic opportunities. During his inaugural visit to India, Premier Peter Malinauskas unveiled an ambitious vision to reshape South Australia’s education framework. His proposal seeks to establish the state as a leader in sustainability and renewable energy. He reiterated the state’s unwavering commitment to renewable energy, with an expectation of transitioning to complete reliance on renewables by 2027. A significant announcement made during this visit was the merger of the University of South Australia and the University of Adelaide, which will culminate in the establishment of a new university by 2026. This consolidation aims to bolster research capabilities and industry collaboration, particularly in renewable energy, healthcare, and artificial intelligence. David Lloyd, co-vice chancellor of the future Adelaide University, revealed that the curriculum will be industry-driven, ensuring that graduates possess skills tailored to market demands. CEO Jane Johnston shared that Indian students can secure job placements even before arriving in Adelaide. The program offers networking events, career workshops, and volunteer opportunities, along with guidance on industry standards and skill development.
