Snapshots of Soul: Tamil Nadu's Young Visionaries Capture Life's Essence in a Riveting Photography Exhibition
Unveiling the Stories and Talents of Government School Students through 'Unseen Perspectives'
Mar 05, 2024 |
From across 11 districts in Tamil Nadu, Government school students participated in a year-long workshop. Their hard work manifested physically into a photography exhibition ‘Unseen Perspectives’ displaying works produced by 560 students. These 800 photographs will be displayed at Lalit Kala Akademi and are part of the Art Labs Project by the School Education Department to encourage students to pick up extra-curricular activities.
From February 16 to 17 people get to see the student’s perception of their life and the stories that encompass their people which were captured from a gradual progression of mobile phones to DSLR cameras. Students understood that other than being a stress buster these photographs also had the power to create social influence.
For this, students from classes 9 to 12 were mentored by 12 trainers including photojournalist M. Palani Kumar, and were also awarded a diploma at the end of it. Hemalatha, a staff member at the Government Model School in Tiruchi appreciated the venture and stated that the extracurricular activities provided students courage to express themselves more authentically.
Editor’s Note:
The exhibition by 560 students from government schools across Tamil Nadu was not only a sight to behold but a testament to their year-long hard work and guidance by mentors like M. Palani Kumar, producing a glimpse through pixels and frames into their community.
Through this initiative, not only were we presented a testament to the potential in each student, but they also found the confidence to try something new, express themselves beyond constraints, and empower them to foster meaningful social change. As advocates for education enrichment, Skoobuzz would like to commend the School Education Department for this initiative and congratulate the students on this milestone.
