$7.4 Million Grant to Fund Asia-Focused Respiratory Health Research Program

NTU to Collaborate with Nine Institutions on Innovative Respiratory Health Research

Nanyang Technological University Singapore’s (NTU Singapore) 'The Academic Respiratory Initiative for Pulmonary Health' (TARIPH) Centre has reportedly received $7.4 million (S$10 million) under the country’s first national research grant focused on respiratory health. According to sources, the grant was awarded through the ‘Open Fund-Large Collaborative Grant,’ and the TARIPH Centre will work with various partners to conduct patient-centric translational research on respiratory health.

The NTU-led program will involve researchers from nine institutions, including all public healthcare clusters, medical schools, and public agencies, as well as international and industry partners. The research will focus on five integrated themes that are particularly relevant to Asia, addressing environmental, social, cultural, and health factors unique to the region. Participating institutions in the program include NTU, Singapore General Hospital, National University Hospital, Tan Tock Seng Hospital, the National University of Singapore’s Faculty of Science, National Healthcare Group Polyclinics, Alexandra Hospital, NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, and the A*STAR Institute for Human Development and Potential.

This collaborative effort marks a significant step in advancing respiratory health research as per the needs of the Asian region, with the potential to drive impactful outcomes for public health. The partnership between leading institutions underscores the importance of united efforts in tackling complex health challenges.
