TGBIE Ensures Fairness by Awarding Marks for Printing Inconsistencies

In a remarkable move to ensure fairness and equity, the Telangana Board of Intermediate Education (TGBIE) has decided to award full marks to students who attempted question 7 on the second-year English exam. This unprecedented decision follows a meeting with subject experts, during which it was discovered that question 7 contained printing inconsistencies in some of the exam papers, thus putting certain students at a disadvantage.

Acknowledging the issue, the Board resolved to award four marks to students who attempted the flawed question, thereby ensuring fairness and maintaining the integrity of the examination process. Among the total, 13,029 students were absent, while 4,33,963 students appeared for the exam. The Telangana State Intermediate Public Examinations (IPE) commenced on March 5 and will continue until March 24 for first-year students. Meanwhile, second-year exams are scheduled from March 6 to March 25, both held in the morning shift from 9 am to noon.

In the 2024 IPE exams, 9,81,000 students appeared, with the TS inter 1st year achieving a pass percentage of 60.01% and the 2nd year achieving 64.19%. For the first-year exams, 1,86,025 students earned Grade A, 68,985 secured Grade B, 23,968 obtained Grade C, and 8,283 received Grade D. In the second-year exams, 16,198 students were placed in the compartment category, and 50 candidates were booked for malpractice. The TS supplementary exams commenced on May 24.

Rangareddy emerged as the best-performing district in the 2024 TS inter 1st-year results, while Mulugu topped the TS inter 2nd-year results. In 2023, the TS intermediate exams saw 4,82,675 students appear for the first-year exams, resulting in a 61.68% pass rate (2,97,741 students). For the second-year exams, 4,65,478 students appeared, achieving a 63.49% pass rate (2,95,550 students). This marked a decline from the 2022 pass percentage of 67.16%. The TS IPE 2nd year exams for 2024 were conducted between February 29 and March 2. This comprehensive approach by the Telangana Board highlights its commitment to fairness, transparency, and continuous improvement in the examination process.
