The Gurusharan Convent School held an event on October 19, sponsored by Jockey Juniors, where more than 800 young artists came together for the Times NIE Colour Splash, an annual celebration of creativity and imagination. Students showed up with their paint brushes and palettes, diving into themes like “A Day in My Dream Land” and “My Fantasy Adventure” for the juniors. At the same time, seniors tackled “A Day at My Dream Destination” and “Exploring an Enchanted Forest.”
The school grounds turned into a vibrant splash of colour, with students sharing their visions of an ocean paradise and a bustling futuristic city filled with flying cars. Beyond the art competition, the day was filled with energetic dance performances from the participants. The artwork caught the judges' eyes, including Bollywood art director Boishali Sinha, fine art photographer Abhishek Pandey, and creative consultant Gunjan Jain. A workshop was also held for parents, sharing tips on modern dietary habits and sparking lively discussions about balanced nutrition and its effects on physical and mental health.
In the junior category, Riyanshi Bhatt from Sachdeva Public School snagged first place with her artwork depicting a “fantastical world.” Kunjal from Ramjas School took home first in the senior category with his intricate portrayal of a dream destination. Second and third place in the juniors went to V Vatshalya from AES School and Khyati Tomar from Queen's Carmel School. For seniors, Prisha Singh from KIIT World School and Ishika Moral from Queen's Carmel School secured the second and third spots, respectively.
Dr Saurabh Malhotra, principal of Gurusharan Convent School, highlighted how events like this spark adventure and boost confidence among young artists. He emphasized that NIE is committed to giving them the chance to shine and express their creativity.
