University of Southampton Marks Historic Milestone in Indo-UK Educational Ties

The National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has brought major changes to India’s education system by replacing old, outdated rules with a modern and forward-thinking approach. These are the University of Southampton, the University of Liverpool, the University of York, Newcastle University, Coventry University, and Queen’s University Belfast. All of them have reportedly signed Letters of Intent (LoIs) to start campuses in India.

The University of Southampton, which is recognised around the world for its research and is a founding member of the Russell Group, will be the first to launch a full campus in India. High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami has congratulated the universities and encouraged more academic partnerships. He also invited other universities to look into opportunities for joint research, degree programmes, innovation centres, and student and staff exchanges. This major step forward marks a new beginning in educational ties between India and the UK and shows India’s strong interest in becoming more connected to the global academic community.
