Exam Disruptions and New Policies: NTA Responds to CUET UG Challenges
CUET UG 2025 Updates: Exam Cancellations and Format Changes Announced
May 21, 2025 |
Over the past year, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has continuously refined the structure and administration of the Common University Entrance Test Undergraduate (CUET UG) to improve alignment with academic standards and ensure a smoother examination process. As part of these efforts, the NTA recently announced a revision to the question paper pattern for the Accountancy test under CUET UG 2025. The modification aims to better reflect the notified syllabus and provide students with a more structured assessment.
Since its introduction, CUET UG has undergone several adjustments to enhance fairness and transparency in university admissions. Each modification has been designed to optimise the examination framework while maintaining rigorous precautions to uphold integrity and efficiency. The CUET UG 2025 commenced on May 13 and will continue until June 3, with strict measures in place to ensure a secure and well-managed testing environment for all candidates.
Under the revised format, students will have the option to answer questions from either Unit 5 or an alternative, while the content from Units 1 to 4 remains unchanged. The updated pattern will be implemented for exams conducted from May 22 onwards. To ensure fairness, the NTA has provided candidates who took the Accountancy exam between May 13 and 16 the choice to either retain their results or reappear under the revised format. This option will be made available through the official website, with further details to be released in due course.
Additionally, the NTA has advised all CUET UG 2025 candidates to regularly check its official websites—nta.ac.in and cuet.nta.nic.in—for the latest updates regarding examinations. Furthermore, due to technical issues, the NTA announced the cancellation of exams held on May 13 (Shift II) and May 14 (Shifts I and II) at Kite Polytechnic, Vawoosa, Rangreth, Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir, affecting over 76 candidates. Revised dates and new admit cards will be issued in due course. For any assistance, candidates may contact the NTA helpline at 011-40759000 or email cuet-ug@nta.ac.in. Through these measures, the NTA continues to demonstrate its commitment to ensuring a fair and efficient examination process for all students.
Editor’s Note:
The evolving landscape of university admissions in India underscores the need for a fair, transparent, and efficient examination system. With CUET UG playing a pivotal role in shaping access to higher education, the National Testing Agency's continued refinements aim to enhance the credibility and alignment of the exam with academic standards. The recent changes to the Accountancy paper format signal an effort to provide students with a more structured and equitable assessment. However, while adjustments bring improvements, they must be implemented with clarity to ensure students face minimal disruption. At the same time, technical issues causing exam cancellations raise concerns about infrastructure readiness and examination security. The NTA must prioritise seamless administration and uphold the trust of candidates by ensuring timely communication and fair resolutions.
Skoobuzz emphasises that as students across the country strive for academic success, the effectiveness of CUET UG will ultimately depend on its ability to remain consistent, transparent, and student-centric in its approach.
