JEE Advanced 2025 Guidelines: Key Instructions Every Candidate Must Follow

The Joint Entrance Examination Advanced (JEE Advanced) 2025, one of India’s most competitive engineering entrance exams, is scheduled to take place on May 18. This year, the exam is being conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) and will consist of two papers: Paper 1 from 9 am to 12 noon, followed by Paper 2 from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm. Over 2.5 lakh students are set to appear, making it a crucial gateway for admission into India’s prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).

Candidates are strongly advised to arrive at their respective exam centres well in advance, as the centres will open at 7 am. With thousands of aspirants competing for limited seats, thorough preparation and strict adherence to exam guidelines will be essential for success. To assist candidates with disabilities (PwD), as well as those with less than 40 per cent disability who face difficulties in writing, the option to use a scribe has been provided. The selection process for scribes will take place on May 17.

Additionally, all candidates appearing for JEE Advanced 2025 must carry a printout of their downloaded admit card, along with a valid original photo identity card, to the examination centre. Acceptable forms of identification include an Aadhaar card, school or college ID, driving licence, voter ID, passport, PAN card, or a notarised certificate with a photograph. The admit card is available for download on the official website (jeeadv.ac.in).

While candidates are permitted to carry pens, pencils, and drinking water in a transparent bottle, a wide range of items have been strictly prohibited inside the exam centre. These include watches, mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, earphones, microphones, pagers, health bands, and other electronic gadgets. Furthermore, printed, blank, or handwritten paper, log tables, writing pads, scales, erasers, geometry boxes, pencil-boxes, pouches, calculators, pen drives, electronic pens, scanners, wallets, handbags, cameras, and goggles are also not allowed. Candidates must adhere strictly to these guidelines to ensure the smooth conduct of the examination. With IIT admission at stake, following the rules and remaining well-prepared will be key to success on exam day.
