The Prime Minister Internship Scheme (PMIS), led by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, offers 12-month paid internships in top companies across various sectors. This scheme is designed to tap into the potential of India’s youth by providing valuable opportunities with leading companies across the country. Aimed at individuals aged 21 to 24 who are not enrolled in full-time academic programs or employment, the scheme offers a monthly stipend of ₹5,000 and a one-time assistance of ₹6,000.
Round 2 of the pilot phase is now open, offering over 1 lakh internships in more than 730 districts, with participation from over 300 leading companies. These internships are an excellent chance for young professionals to gain practical experience, expand their networks, and boost their employability. The internships will combine relevant training and professional experience, ensuring that candidates not only gain knowledge but also apply their skills in real-world settings.
PMIS has reopened for applications, with Round 2 offering over 1 lakh internship opportunities across 730 districts in India. Following the success of Round 1, which received over 6 lakh applications, more than 300 top companies from sectors like Oil, Gas, Banking, Automotive, FMCG, and more are providing these internships. The program aims to offer Indian youth real-world experience, networking, and enhanced employability.
Eligible youth can explore and select internships based on district, state, sector, and area, with the option to filter by radius from their location. In Round 2, applicants can apply for up to three internships. Over 70 IEC events are being held across India, particularly in districts with the most opportunities, at colleges, universities, ITIs, and Rozgar Melas. National digital campaigns are also targeting relevant areas, using multiple platforms and influencers. This initiative is a vital step towards empowering India's youth with the skills and experience needed to thrive in today's competitive job market.
