UGC-NET 2025 Results Highlight Academic Pathways for Over 7.5 Lakh Test-Takers

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has officially announced the results of the UGC-NET June 2025 examination on 21 July 2025, marking a pivotal moment for thousands of aspirants pursuing careers in academia and research. The University Grants Commission – National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET) serves as a national benchmark for determining eligibility for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), Assistant Professorship, and PhD admissions across Indian universities and colleges. As such, it plays a vital role in shaping the academic and research landscape of the country.

This year’s examination was conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across 285 cities, covering 83 subjects, between 25 and 29 June 2025. Out of 10,19,751 registered candidates, a total of 7,52,007 appeared for the test. According to official data released by NTA, 5,269 candidates qualified for both JRF and Assistant Professorship, 54,885 qualified for Assistant Professorship and PhD admission, while 1,28,179 qualified for PhD admission only.

Candidates were instructed to check their results by visiting the official portal at ugcnet.nta.ac.in, where they could log in using their application number, date of birth, and security pin. Upon successful login, the scorecard, containing section-wise marks, overall percentile, and qualification status, would be displayed and could be downloaded for future reference. Alongside the results, the NTA also released the final answer key and subject-wise cut-off marks, which were determined after reviewing objections submitted between 6 and 8 July 2025.

The NTA reiterated that it follows a percentile-based normalisation process to ensure fairness across multiple exam shifts. Candidates meeting or exceeding the prescribed cut-offs were deemed qualified for their respective categories. These results now enable eligible candidates to apply for teaching positions, research fellowships, and doctoral programmes following institutional guidelines. With over 1.88 lakh candidates qualifying across various categories, the UGC-NET June 2025 results reaffirm the examination’s role as a cornerstone of academic advancement in India.
