University of Bath Celebrates Success in Mitacs Globalink Research Internship Program

The University of Bath is delighted to announce that five of its students have been successfully accepted into the prestigious Mitacs Globalink Research Internship program for the Summer of 2025. This remarkable achievement provides these students with the unique opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research projects in Canada, enabling them to gain invaluable international experience and broaden their academic and professional horizons.
Mitacs connects the private sector with educational institutions in Canada and globally, promoting research and solutions to organizational challenges across various disciplines. Its programs foster collaboration between industry and academia, offering valuable opportunities for students and researchers. The Globalink Research Internship is a competitive program for international undergraduate students from fifteen countries, offering twelve-week research internships at Mitacs' partner institutions in Canada.
This year, five University of Bath students were selected for fully-funded internships, with subsidies covering most of their stay abroad. The program was open to high-achieving students in their penultimate year of study. Among the successful applicants, Claire Brook, a chemistry student, will research environmental remediation at Memorial University of Newfoundland. Abbie Thomas, a social sciences student, will study kayaking kinetics at Dalhousie University. Emily Sacchi, an engineering student, will research unsteady flow at Queen's University. Aidan Chan, a mechanical engineering student, will develop a robotic self-replicating machine for the Moon at Carleton University. Sanal Jayakody, another engineering student, will work on a 4D navigation display at École Polytechnique de Montréal.
These students will now prepare for their twelve-week internships, collaborating with their Canadian host professors to contribute to their respective research projects.
