Cinethon: Adamas University’s 50-Hour Filmmaking Challenge Inspires Creativity and Collaboration
Adamas University Organizes Award Ceremony to Celebrate Excellence in Cinethon Filmmaking

Cinethon, a 50-hour filmmaking event organized by Adamas University’s School of Media and Communication from November 12 to 14, 2024, saw enthusiastic participation from students across various disciplines. Participants were tasked with scripting, shooting, directing, acting, and creating a short film within the 50-hour timeframe, using only locations within the campus. This event made Adamas University the first in Kolkata to host such a filmmaking challenge. Marathon students displayed immense creativity, energy, and determination, evident in every shot they filmed throughout the three days. Students from other educational institutions in Kolkata also participated, enhancing the event's vibrancy.
On November 21, the university hosted an award ceremony to recognize the outstanding efforts of the students and budding filmmakers. Awards were presented for Best Script, Best Actor, Best Cinematographer, Best Direction, and Best Editing. Dr. Akashdeep Muni, Associate Dean of the School of Media and Communication, expressed his appreciation for the students' passion for filmmaking. Prof. Radha Tamal Goswami, Pro Vice Chancellor of Adamas University, and Dr. Souvik Roy, Associate Dean of the School of Law and Justice, also attended, offering support to the participants.
Ekta Bhattacharjee, daughter of renowned director Prabhat Roy graced the event. She has contributed to over four thousand national and international projects across various domains and praised the students' dedication and passion. She commended the quality of the films and presented the awards to the winners. Cinethon at Adamas University was a remarkable showcase of student creativity and dedication. The event not only highlighted the talent and enthusiasm of the participants but also reinforced the university's commitment to fostering innovation in filmmaking.
