Amrita University Achieves Landmark Recognition with SPARK GLOBAL Induction at Stanford

SPARK GLOBAL Welcomes Amrita University, First Indian Institution to Join Prestigious Program

Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University, through its School of Biotechnology, has achieved the notable distinction of being inducted into the esteemed SPARK GLOBAL organization, based at Stanford University School of Medicine in the USA. With this recognition, Amrita becomes the first Indian institution to attain such an honor. SPARK GLOBAL is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting high-quality translational projects and solutions grounded in excellent science that address pressing unmet clinical needs. It began as a grassroots initiative at Stanford and has since inspired similar initiatives around the globe.

The organization focuses on facilitating research conducted in academia, offering close mentoring and guidance from industry scientists and experts who volunteer their time. This support aims to enhance the impact of academic inventions for the benefit of patients worldwide. Additionally, SPARK GLOBAL assists local programs at academic and non-profit institutions that strive to transform innovative ideas into practical solutions for patients and society.

Dr. Bipin Nair, Professor at the Amrita School of Biotechnology and Dean of Life Sciences at Amrita University, expressed that induction into the SPARK GLOBAL program presents a wonderful opportunity to enhance ongoing original research in various healthcare and clinical research areas. He emphasized the potential for mutually beneficial research collaborations with SPARK GLOBAL member institutions and laboratories worldwide.

According to the SPARK GLOBAL Charter, which is a key part of this arrangement, Dr. Maneesha Ramesh, Provost of Amrita University, and Dr. Bipin Nair will serve as joint Local Directors of the SPARK GLOBAL program initiated at Amrita University.
