Sports and Wellness Take Centre Stage at AMU's Valedictory Event

Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), a renowned institution known for its academic excellence and holistic approach to student development, continues to emphasise the importance of physical well-being alongside intellectual growth. Recognising the crucial role of sports and fitness in fostering discipline, teamwork, and overall health, the Department of Business Administration at AMU reportedly organised the valedictory function of the Fit India Movement and Frolic Sports Events to mark the conclusion of a series of fitness and sports activities for students and staff.
Chief Guest Prof. Obaid Ahmed Siddiqui from the Department of Anaesthesiology, AMU, reportedly highlighted the significance of regular physical activity for mental and emotional well-being. He noted that participation in sports not only enhances brain function but also helps reduce stress, thereby improving academic performance. Earlier, Prof. Salma Ahmed, Chairperson of the Department, is said to have welcomed the participants and expressed gratitude to Prof. Siddiqui for his ongoing support in academic and research initiatives, including his contribution to developing an observational study schedule at JNMC for MBA (Hospital Administration) students.
Dr. Mohd Afaq Khan, Faculty In-Charge of Sports, reportedly presented a summary of the activities conducted under the Fit India Movement and Frolic Events, emphasising their role in promoting discipline, teamwork, and physical fitness. He also announced the names of student winners and acknowledged the contributions of staff members.
The event reportedly honoured several student achievers, including Anjali Singh, Jazaa Nehal, Amit Jadon, Saad Saeed, Safdar Khan, Rashid Khan, Khizr Siddiqui, Faizan Khan, Mohd Faizan, Raheel Iqbal, Armaan Beg, and Danish Mushtaq, along with staff members Mr. Owais and Mr. Mudassir. Additionally, a short video presentation was screened to provide an overview of the activities conducted, and the function included a farewell tribute to Dr. Afaq Khan on his retirement from university service. The programme was conducted by final-year student Fazal Imam, while the vote of thanks was delivered by Faizan Khan, the Students' Sports Coordinator.The event concluded on a note of appreciation, celebrating the spirit of fitness, collaboration, and dedication within the university community.
