Chitkara University Hosts Virtual Round of BAJA SAEINDIA 2025

Empowering Young Engineers: The Launch of BAJA SAEINDIA’s 18th Season

BAJA SAEINDIA is a prominent collegiate engineering design competition organized by SAEINDIA. It challenges students to design, build, and test a single-seater All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) through a series of rigorous events. The virtual round of the competition began on November 29, hosted by Chitkara University, Rajpura. Dr. Sandhir Sharma, the Vice-Chancellor of Chitkara University, delivered the welcome address. Balraj Subramaniam, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee, emphasized the event's significant role in shaping the next generation of mobility engineers. He stated that this motorsport challenge has served as a beacon of innovation and learning since its inception.

In the 18th season of the SAEINDIA event 2025, with 200 teams participating, the competition will be organized in three phases. The virtual round includes static events, such as sales, cost, and design evaluations, along with the sustainability event and an engine simulation event. Additionally, it features virtual dynamic events using IPG carmaker, providing a comprehensive framework to assess the teams.

The Chairman of the event's organizing committee further highlighted that the program continues to shape the future of mobility engineers. Since its inception, it has emerged as a platform for innovation and learning. Over the past 18 years, it has evolved into a dynamic competition that encourages students to excel in every aspect of engineering. With four categories introduced and a new theme, "Fusion 4 Future," as well as exceptional participation from teams nationwide, the event continues to grow year after year.

Dr. Madhu Chitkara, the Pro-Chancellor of Chitkara University, noted that the university and the competition have maintained a strong and productive partnership since 2015. She mentioned that hosting both the physical and virtual rounds over the years has been a privilege, reflecting the shared commitment to bridging the gap between academia and industry. Additionally, she emphasized that the university champions innovation, multidisciplinary collaboration, and forward-thinking engineering. Charu Yadav, the General Manager of Bharat Petroleum, spoke about the company's long-standing partnership with the motorsport event, which has been in place since 2007.

The third phase of the competition is set to elevate the event to new heights, with activities planned at three different locations. The series will begin with mBAJA and hBAJA, which will showcase their capabilities from January 9 to 12, 2025, at NATRAX in Pithampur. BAJA SAEINDIA serves as a pivotal platform for students, fostering innovation, teamwork, and engineering excellence. With its strong partnerships and a focus on shaping the future of mobility engineering, the program provides an inspiring pathway to empower the next generation of engineers.
