Brock–DCU Collaboration Sets New Standard for International Mobility in Higher Education

Brock University and Dublin City University Deepen Ties Through Five-Year Exchange Agreement

A newly launched student exchange initiative is broadening international learning opportunities through academic and cultural collaboration between two respected institutions, Brock University in Canada and Dublin City University (DCU) in Ireland. Situated in Ontario’s scenic Niagara region, Brock is recognised for its co-operative education and research-led teaching. At the same time, DCU, located in Dublin, is known for its innovative approach to global business education and interdisciplinary research. Building on nearly a decade of partnership, the two universities have now signed a five-year, campus-wide exchange agreement. This marks a significant step forward, extending opportunities beyond the original business-focused collaboration to students across all faculties. According to university officials, this development is a natural evolution of their longstanding academic relationship, which began with the success of their dual-degree program.

Since 2015, the Goodman School of Business at Brock and DCU have jointly offered a dual degree initiative, allowing students to earn both a Bachelor of Arts in Global Business from DCU and a Bachelor of Business Administration Co-op from Brock. The programme has consistently received praise for its high participation, academic rigour, and career readiness. Its renewal in 2023 reaffirmed both institutions’ commitment to global education and student mobility. Under the new agreement, the scope of collaboration has expanded considerably. Students from disciplines such as Science, Humanities, and Social Sciences will now gain access to graduate programmes, joint research projects, and continuing education pathways. University administrators explained that this broader framework emerged from extensive dialogue, which underscored the value of a university-wide study abroad model that fosters deeper cross-cultural engagement.

The formal signing of the agreement on 28 July was described as a milestone in strengthening ties between two leading research universities. Representatives from Brock highlighted that the collaboration not only reinforces an already strong partnership but also opens transformative avenues for students to experience education in a globally recognised academic setting. For Brock students, the initiative offers a chance to explore Ireland’s rich cultural heritage while benefiting from DCU’s academic excellence. In turn, DCU students will experience Canadian academic life and culture through their time at Brock.
