Cambridge Exams Expand Reach: 9% Global Growth Reflects Rising Demand for International Education

Cambridge International has officially released the Cambridge International Results for its June 2025 exam series, with more than 680,000 students worldwide receiving their grades. This marks a 9 per cent increase compared to the previous year and reflects the growing momentum behind International Education Exams. The organisation attributed this rise to the increasing popularity of Cambridge International Exams among students seeking globally recognised qualifications.

In India, Cambridge Exam Results were issued to 4,680 students across 252 Cambridge International Schools, with over 21,600 entries recorded for the Cambridge IGCSE Results and O Level qualifications. This represents a 7 per cent growth from June 2024. The most selected subjects at this level included First Language English, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology, underscoring the continued focus on core academic disciplines.

Meanwhile, Cambridge A Level Results were released on 12 August to more than 5,300 students in 230 schools across India, with over 12,900 entries, a 3 per cent increase from the previous year. Popular subjects at this level included Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Business, and Economics, indicating a shift towards both STEM and commerce-related fields. To accommodate diverse academic calendars, Cambridge International Schools in India benefit from three exam series annually: March, June, and November. The March series has become particularly prominent, aligning with local board schedules and facilitating smoother transitions to university admissions. Across 129 countries, Cambridge Assessment Results for AS & A Levels were issued to more than 354,000 students, with entries rising by 11 per cent globally. While traditional subjects remain dominant, there has been a notable increase in interdisciplinary options such as Global Perspectives, which saw a 17 per cent rise. This reflects broader Global Exam Trends favouring critical thinking, global citizenship, and real-world problem-solving.

The steady rise in exam results in India was said to highlight a national shift towards international school performance and globally benchmarked curricula. Education experts observed that more Indian families were choosing qualifications designed to prepare students for both domestic and international opportunities. Vinay Sharma, a senior education advisor, remarked that Cambridge qualifications were no longer considered niche but were becoming mainstream in many of the country’s progressive schools. Cambridge qualifications are recognised by leading Indian universities, including those under the University Grants Commission (UGC), and are accepted by institutions such as Ashoka University, FLAME University, and select IITs. Additionally, students use their Cambridge International Results to apply to universities in the UK, US, Canada, Singapore, and Australia, thereby expanding their academic and career prospects.

Although most Cambridge International Schools are located in urban centres, there is a growing presence in tier-2 cities and rural districts, supported by public-private partnerships and philanthropic initiatives. This expansion is helping to bridge educational gaps and provide students from diverse backgrounds with access to International Education Exams. Furthermore, the rising popularity of subjects such as Business and Economics at A Level reflects a shift towards entrepreneurial thinking and financial literacy, aligning with India’s broader economic goals and the National Education Policy’s emphasis on holistic development. The June 2025 Cambridge International Results underscore the organisation’s expanding role in shaping globally competent learners and advancing international education across India and beyond.
